At INKonHair Clinic in Bristol, we specialise in providing scalp micropigmentation (SMP) treatments, but we also offer a range of different aesthetic treatments, including picosecond laser treatment. Read on to find out more about what a picosecond laser is used for, how it works with the body, what the name means, and what the advantage is over other types of lasers.
What is a Picosecond Laser for?
We use the Picosecond laser for tattoo removal, using the most advanced state-of-the-art technology to ensure you can once again enjoy clear, tattoo-free skin. Depending on their wavelength, picosecond lasers are especially efficient for use on blue and green pigments, which are notoriously difficult to remove when using other lasers.
How does the Picosecond Laser Work?
The picosecond works by using a high-power laser with a high pulse rate to target the ink on the skin. Once this high-power laser hits the pigmented skin, the ink immediately transforms into tiny particles. These particles and then flushed away naturally by the body. The laser is able to target the skin so accurately that it avoids damaging any surrounding skin tissue, leaving your skin as a blank canvas once again.
Why is it Called a Picosecond Laser?
Whilst you may have heard of a nanosecond, a picosecond measures at one trillionth of a second. If you think about how short a second is, you can only begin to imagine how quick the laser pulse fires at the skin. The speed of the pulse is a billion times better than that of a nanosecond laser, as one nanosecond being the equivalent of 1000 picoseconds. This is what makes a picosecond laser stand above the rest.
What the Advantage of Using a Picosecond Laser Tattoo Removal Machine?
As this high-power laser system is so fast, you can obtain your desired results even sooner. This means that less treatment sessions will be required and you will need less downtime between each treatment session. Overall, this results in a much better service, that is also costs less money due to the removal taking less time to complete.
